What does it involve?
Do you love innovation? Are you interested in improving products and services for customers and colleagues? Then digital technology services (DTS) could be the perfect place for you. Providing the application development, design, physical infrastructure and architecture for our organisation, this team shapes the future of our business – and impacts it at every level.
As one of our graduates, you’ll be able to gain broad exposure to this work, as you rotate through different areas of the team and try out a variety of roles. Areas you can develop skills in include:
Solution development and implementation
Networking and telephony
The programme gives you real responsibility from the start. And, throughout, you’ll be collaborating with teams of experts who are dedicated to using technology to its full potential. This means there will be plenty of opportunities for you to innovate, whether you’re using technology to drive business improvements or finding ways to make our customers’ lives simpler, for example by helping them control their heating and hot water from a digital device.
To make sure you get the most out of everything on offer, we’ll provide you with a tailored development plan and support you with a mentoring scheme and knowledge-sharing sessions. We’ll also help you find a suitable role within the business when your programme comes to an end.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
The key thing is that you have a passion and aptitude for all things IT, whether or not you have studied it at university. Other qualities we look for include analytical thinking, organisational ability and communication skills. You also need to be great at working in a team.
My graduate scheme experience has been truly transformational. I came out of university with no coding experience and within a few weeks was working on real projects, building software which is currently being used daily by the business. I have had many opportunities to develop as a person and volunteer my time to causes I care about. I would recommend this scheme to someone who really wants to stretch themselves and treat every day as a new learning experience- Kirsty Duncan, IS Graduate
